How do I get my dog started as a daycare or boarding client at Urban Hound?
First, fill out the Urban Hound Application and the Urban Hound Client Agreement forms available to you online. These forms can be submitted online, or printed out and brought in on your Meet and Greet session.
Then, get your dog’s vaccination records from your veterinarian or allow Urban Hound Playground to obtain these records on your behalf. These will need to be brought in or submitted by the time of your Meet and Greet session as well.
Finally, call or email us to set up your dog’s Meet and Greet session. This visit must be made in advance, we do not accept walk-ins. You will need to bring your Application and Client Agreement (if not submitted online) as well as vaccination records with you at this time.
What is a Meet and Greet session?
A Meet and Greet session is an initial Urban Hound visit so that we can get to know your dog, and your dog can get to know us. During this time we will perform a temperament evaluation in order to make sure doggy daycare and/or boarding is a good fit for your furry friend. We ask that you set up a Meet and Greet session with us prior to beginning regular daycare or boarding visits. This visit can be requested via email or phone call.
The session can last up to 5 hours, but should you need to leave your dog with us all day just let us know and we will make the necessary accommodations! Normal rates apply.
If you will be unable to schedule a Meet and Greet session prior to your dog's stay, please call us! We can definitely figure something out.
What do you mean you are kennel free?
When we say kennel free, we mean that your dog will not sleep in a kennel at night. Instead, they will sleep in their designated play area on a Kuranda bed, their favorite playground equipment or the ground if they so desire. There is an Urban Hound staff member present all through the night to make sure everyone sleeps well.
However, during meal times throughout the day, your dog will be placed briefly in a spacious kennel to enjoy their meal without any interruption.
We believe that a kennel free environment allows dogs the comfort and mobility that they would experience when sleeping at home. If your dog sleeps in a kennel or crate at home, we have kennels and crates available upon request.
What vaccinations does my dog all need?
Your dog should be up to date with their rabies, bordetella and DHPP vaccinations. Your dog also must be at least 12 weeks of age. If your dog is over 7 months old they must be spayed or neutered.
Additionally, your dog should:
- Be flea and tick free
- Be internal parasite free
- Be in good health – no doggy colds or flus please

*Please check with your vet if your puppy is between 12 and 24 weeks old to make sure that your puppy is ready for daycare/boarding.
Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?
Once your dog is 7 months old, they must be spayed or neutered for the protection and safety of all of our guests.

Can you give my dog their medications?
Absolutely! Just provide us with the necessary information such as what time of day it should be administered, how much and how often.
Do you give tours of the facility?
In order to eliminate added stress on our visiting dogs we do not do in person tours, but we have created a video tour to give you a 360 degree view of our facilities. *Coming soon!*

Yes! We have a separate playroom for our elderly, small or extremely mellow guests. During your dog’s Meet and Greet session, we will determine which play area is best suited for your dog.
Are the dogs supervised at all times?
Absolutely! The safety of our furry friends is our number one priority, so we will always supervise our guests.
What should I bring to daycare and boarding?
Your dog should bring:
- Food or medication if your dog eats during the hours they are at daycare
- Toys, bones, bowls or a bed
Your dog should bring:
- Food clearly labeled with your dog’s name
- Any medications your dog requires
Your dog shouldn’t bring:
- Toys, bones, bowls or a bed
- Due to the fact that your dog doesn’t sleep in a kennel at night unless requested, it’s best to leave the toys and bones at home so they don’t get lost! We have bowls and a bed for each of our guests so those can be left at home too.
